Abstract

Introduction: Among the risk factors for coronary artery disease, less attention has been paid to physical activity, especially in children and adolescents. Various studies have shown that their level of physical activity is lower than the standard for maintaining lower health. In this study, the pattern of physical activity of children and adolescents in the central regions of Iran is examined.
Method: In this descriptive study, which is part of the first phase of the Isfahan Healthy Heart Project and was conducted in 2002, awareness of the attitude and performance of 4,000 urban and rural children and adolescents in preschool to high school in Isfahan (Isfahan, Najafabad) and Markazi (Arak city) and the parents of these students and 500 teachers and school officials have been examined about physical activity and the duration of watching TV through a questionnaire. Sampling was selected in the form of a random cluster and in proportion to the urban and rural population living in the two provinces. Data were analyzed with SPSS software and p<0.05 were considered significant.
Results: About 40 percent of middle and high school students in the two provinces practiced regular sports at school less than two hours a week. Regular morning exercise and school sports were more common in girls than boys (p<0.00001), but regular extracurricular exercise and sports team membership were more common in boys (P<0.001). More than 77 percent of parents were unaware of the importance of childhood exercise in their children's health. The average TV viewing time for children of different ages was 4 hours a day.
Conclusion: The level of physical activity of middle and high school students in the central regions of Iran is less than the desired level and the duration of watching TV is more than the recommended values.

Abstract

Background: The study on rats showed that some of cytokines and proteins which were produced by macrophages and other cells, plays a critical role in regulating of ABCA1 expression. But, in this area, the study in human subjects, especially subsequent physical activity has not performed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between lymphocytic ABCA1 protein with IL-10 and TNF-α cyrokines subsequent eight weeks interval combined exercise training (ICET) among overweight and obese boy adolescents.

Materials and Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 28 students (16.93±1.89 yr, 88.07±9.98 kg and 28.35±2.55 kg/m²) were randomly selected and assigned into training (n=13) and control (n=15) groups. Exercise protocol was ICET (8WK, 4 d/wk, 70 min/d).Cell hemolysis and sensitive Elisa method was used for evaluating ABAC1 protein T-student tests and Pearson correlation were used to analyze the data.

Results: The survey changes of post to pre-test of ABCA1, IL-10 and TNF-α showed that there was a positive significant correlation between lymphocytic ABCA1 protein with IL-10 (r=0.43, p=0.032) and a negative significant correlation with TNF-α (r=-0.53, p=0.012) (p<0.01) after eight weeks training. Also, after exercise, ABCA1 level was significantly increased but the levels of in creased IL10 and decreased TNF-α were not significant.

Conclusion: Due to the increased lymphocytic ABCA1 protein concentration and the correlation between variables following training, the results prove that TNF-α and IL-10 may have negative and positive regulatory effects on lymphocytic ABCA1 protein expression, respectively.

Abstract

Background and Aim: The aim of this study was to present a conceptual model of spiritual well-being in prevention of substance abuse in adolescent.
Materials and Methods: The present study was done with a qualitative meta-synthesis with systematic review of the studies present in the foreign and Iranian journals about spiritual well-being and the role of them in prevention of substance abuse in adolescents. The population of this study consisted of non-interventional archive studies that were done during 1986 -2016 in Oxford Journal, Science Direct, Wiley Online Library, Taylor&Francis, ProQuest, Springer, Iranmedex, Irandoc, SID and Magiran. Keywords were including of spiritual well-being, spirituality, prevention of substance abuse and adolescents.
Ethical Considerations: This study with ethics code 8797/1129 has been approved by Farabi Campus of University of Tehran.
Findings: After reviewing and evaluating the quality of the research, eventually 73 papers and theses included 8 Persian articles, 65 English papers including 11 theses and 54 articles were found and dissertations and finally conceptual model based on fisher (1998) theory's, wree presented. On this ground, subcategory of spiritual well-being was consisted of three theme of relationship with others, relationship with self and relationship with God. Each of them consisted of two subtheme of psychological health (interpersonal and intimate) and psychological well-being(interpersonal and intimate).
Conclusion: The results showed that spiritual well-being influenced on multiple dimensions of adolescent psychological health and well-being and prevention of adolescent substance abuse from this way.

Abstract

Introduction: The use of digital games is highly prevalent among adolescents and can adversely affect their physical and mental health. The aim of this study was to determine the predictors of the stages of change in problematic digital games in high school students using a transtheoretical model.
Methods: This descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study was performed on 703 high school students in Bushehr 2020. A valid and reliable researcher-made questionnaire was performed for data gathering and analyzed using SPSS ver. 22 by descriptive indices, one-way ANOVA, chi-square, and rank ordered logistic regression. The present research was approved at Research Ethical Committee of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences (Code: IR.BPUMS.REC.1398.101).
Results: According to the results, self-efficacy, dramatic relief and social freedom were the predictors of the change stages of reducing and quitting digital games. This means that girls and students with higher self-efficacy (P = 0.037, OR = 1.054), have a better chance of being in higher stages of change and by increasing a unit of dramatic relief score (P = 0.025, OR = 1) and social freedom (OR = 1.135, P <0.001), the chances of individuals to be in the upper stages of change increased.
Conclusions: It seems that the design of educational interventions based on self-efficacy variables and taking into account the change processes of dramatic relief and social freedom, which increase the chances of people to be placed in higher stages of change, in reducing the behavior of digital games of students, especially for boys will be effective.
