Abstract
Background: Nickel and chromium are heavy metals whieh after arriving in biological systems can produce highly reactive free radicals in the body and interact with macromolecules cause damage to them. The purpose of this study, the effect of bilberry and cinnamon extract on blood biochemical factors in workers exposed to nickel and chromium.
Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial, 99 workers were divided into 3 groups: group 1 (control), group 2 workers, welders exposed to nickel and chromium without extract (G) and group 3 workers, welders exposed to nickel and chromium with extracts (B). First biochemical parameters were measured in blood serum. Then the group 3, 2 times a day for four weeks, billberry juice and tea - Cinnamon received. Finally, Biochemical parameters in blood were measured and compared. SPSS software and descriptive statistics (mean±SD), T- independent and one-way ANOVA test were used to analyze the data.
Results: Between group Variance in some biochemical variables between the three groups, control, G and B showed statistically significant differences (p<0.05). Within-group variance was significant in some variables.
Conclusion: After consumption of billberry juice and tea-cinnamon positive changes in biochemical parameters in workers who are exposed to the toxic effects of nickel and chromium was obtained.

Abstract
Background: Operating room personnel are subject to occupational hazards which could lead to an increase in free radicals and develop various diseases. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of consuming green tea on the improvement of the blood oxidative biomarkers in operating room personnel who are exposed to anesthetic gases.
Materials and Methods: This study was a before-after clinical trial which was conducted on 24 operating room personnel. They were invited to consume 4 cups of a green tea beverage, prepared from 3 g of green tea leaves in 300 mL of boiled water (at 80˚ C), daily for 8 weeks. Then, Myeloperoxidase (MPO), DNA damage, Glutathione Peroxidase (GPx), and Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) in the plasma were measured in order to evaluate the level of oxidative stress biomarkers before and after consuming green tea.
Results: Green tea consumption by operating room personnel brought about a significant increase in glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase and a considerable decrease in myeloperoxidase and DNA damage.
Conclusion: According to the results of this study, green tea consumption as an antioxidant supplement by operating room personnel, who are regularly exposed to anesthetic gases, can minimize oxidative stress and DNA damage considerably. Thus, it is advisable for operating room personnel to consume green tea as a natural antioxidant supplement.

Abstract
Abstract
Background: In Asthenoteratozoospermic men, low motility, defected DNA and highly oxidative stress in sperm cause poor assisted reproductive techniques (ART) outcomes. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Vitamin E (Vit E), as a potent antioxidant, on sperm motility, viability and DNA integrity at different times of in vitro incubation (after 2, 4 and 6-h) to improve asthenoteratozoospermic semen samples for ART.
Materials and Methods: Asthenoteratozoospermic semen samples of 50 volunteers were collected and examined. Each sample was divided into two groups of control and vitamin E (2mM) and kept in the 37 °C and 6 % CO2 for 2, 4 and 6 hours. After this incubation, sperm motility, viability and sperm DNA fragmentation (SCD) were evaluated in each group. Data were analyzed using repeated measurement of ANOVA and T-test. The means were considered significantly different at p<0.05.
Results:Significant decrease in total and progressive motility and viability as well as significant increase in sperm DNA damage (after 6h of incubation) were found in control group vs. the control group before incubation (p<0.05). The sperm motility and viability was significantly higher in vitamin E group compared to untreated control group (p<0.05). Our results also showed that DNA fragmentation significantly was lower after 6h of vitamin E treatment (p<0.05).
Conclusion: In vitro supplementation of vitamin E in asthenoteratozoospermia semen samples may protect spermatozoa from maltreatment effect of ROS during sperm sampling via keeping enzymatic and antioxidant process in optimum condition.

Abstract
Abstract
Background: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is one of the most common complications in the patients undergoing strabismus surgery. The aim of current study was comparing supplemental 80% and 40% oxygen on reducing postoperative nausea and vomiting in the pediatrics undergoing strabismus surgery.
Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial study, 100 pediatric patients scheduled for strabismus surgery under general anesthesia were allocated randomly into two parallel supplemental 80% and 40% oxygen groups during surgery. PONV in patients was compared until 24hrs after operation.
Results: In the first 6hrs postoperatively, PONV in the supplemental 40% and 80% oxygen groups were 48.8% and 30.6% respectively, also were 20.8% and 12.2% in the 6 to 24hrs postoperatively. Therefore, there were no significant differences between both groups in regarding of PONV in 6hrs and 6 to 24hrs postoperatively (p values were 0.18 and 0.25, respectively).
Conclusion: According to our results, there is no any difference between 40% and 80% oxygen postoperatively in the pediatrics undergoing strabismus surgery.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Multiple Sclerosis is (MS) is a common demyelinating disease of CNS that inflammation and stress oxidative processes have an important role in clinical courses and progression of it. The aim of the present study was to determine the anti-inflammatory effects of Melatonin on fatigue in MS.
Materials and Methods: In a double-blind clinical trials study, 62 patients with relapsing remitting MS were randomized to oral Melatonin 3 mg or placebo daily for 8 weeks. Scale of Fatigue in MS was studied by assessing FSS (Fatigue Severity Scale) on weeks 1 and 8.
Findings: 47 patients in intervention group and 15 patients in placebo group completed the study. In intervention group, treatment with Melatonin produced a significant decrease in FSS vs placebo group (before intervention: the average of FSS in patient group was 32.04±13.97 and in control group was 35.86±15.44; after intervention: the average of FSS in patient group was 30.42±12.40 and in control group was 41±12.66). Although in control group, the average of FSS was 35.866 and it was 41 after intervention. Because the score of placebo patient is near or upper than 36, this study suggested that Melatonin has a significant effect on improving and decreasing fatigue in MS.
Conclusion: The use of melatonin alongside of First-line drugs such as mitoxantrone, IFN – B or glatimer acetate can improve fatigue and disability in patient with MS.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Ellagic acid (EA) is a natural antioxidant with phenolic structure. In this study, we evaluate the effects of EA consumption on population and activation of neuroglia cells in the animal model of MS under oxidative stress.
Materials and Methods: Mature male mice with age of between 8 to 9 weeks were kept in the standard conditions. For model induction, animals received powder normal diet containing 0.2% Cuprizone (Cup) for six weeks. Mice were divided into eight groups containing control, control receiving three doses of EA (20, 40 and 80 mg/kg), Cup and Cup receiving three doses of EA. Finally, specific glial cell markers in the animal brain tissues were analyzed by molecular methods such as immunohistochemistry (IHC), western blotting (WB) and Real Time-PCR (RT-PCR).
Findings: IHC and WB analysis have shown that only high concentration of EA is able to reduce protein expression of GFAP (activated astrocytes marker), Mac-3 (activated microglial marker), increase protein expression of Olig-2 (oligodendrocytes precursor marker) and ultimately significant reduction on APC (mature oligodendrocytes marker)/Olig-2 ratio in comparison with Cup group. In addition, RT-PCR evaluation indicated that changes in the mRNA expression of target markers were consistent with observed changes in their protein expression and therefore, IHC and WB results were confirmed.
Conclusion: Consumption of 80 mg/kg of EA effectively decreased activation of astrocytes and microglial and so appropriates environment for migration of oligodendrocyte precursor cells to the lesion area and shifting from damage course into the repair progressions.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Extensive prevalence of myocardial infraction, and an increase of 36% in total deaths due to it by 2020, and attention to the causes and methods of alternative therapy is very important. There are different ways in treating these patients that endurance training is one of them. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 8 weeks of incremental endurance training on serum levels of TSP-1 and MMP-1 in male Wistar rats with myocardial infarction.
Materials and Methods: In this controled experimental study with control group, 20 rats weighing 230 ±30 g (8-week-old) were randomly divided into incremental endurance training and control, after induction of infarction with Isoproteronol (150 mg/kg). The training group performed an 8-week training session (3 sessions a week, for 20 to 50 minutes at 12 to 18 meters per minute).Then, 24 hours later, the venous blood sample was collected to evaluate serum concentrations of TSP-1 and MMP-1 and transferred to the laboratory. Independent t-test was used to analyze the data at a significant level of p <0.05 to Graphed Pad software.
Ethical Considerations: This study with research ethics code IR.IAU.ARAK.REC.1397.007 was approved in Research Ethics Committee of Islamic Azad University, Arak branch, Iran.
Findings: The results showed that endurance training significantly increased serum MMP1 levels (p = 0.048) in rats with myocardial infraction, while there was no significant effect (p = 0.092) on the exercise program in serum TSP-1 levels.
Conclusion: the result of this study suggests that increasing endurance training may increase MMP-1 in rats with myocardial infraction, which can play an important role in angiogenesis and replacement of capillaries.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Regarding the importance of new treatments to control and treat multiple sclerosis (MS), in this study we investigated the role of Benzoaric acid (BA) on the neuro-inflammation and apoptosis processes in the cuprizone (cup)-induced animal model of MS.
Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 35 males C57BL/6 mice were divided into five groups. The study groups were included, control: received six weeks of normal powdered food beside intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of BA solvent (100 µL per day PBS) for the last two weeks, cup: received six weeks of powdered food contains 0.2% cup beside i.p. injection of BA solvent for the last two weeks and cup-treatment: received six weeks of powdered food contains 0.2% cup beside i.p. injection of 20, 40 and 80 mg/kg BA for the last two weeks. Eventually, the medial corpus callosum area of the animal’s brain was evaluated via western blot and Real-Time PCR methods.
Ethical Considerations: Ethical points were observed according to the declaration of Helsinki and relevant code of ethics, regarding minimizing harms during animal experimentation (UOZ-GR-9517-13).
Findings: Molecular studies have shown that BA-80 decreased mRNA (p <0.01) and protein expression of NF-KB and consequently increased I-KB/NF-KB ratio (p <0.05) and decreased inflammation in compare to cup group. Moreover, BA-80 decreased caspase-9 mRNA (p<0.01) and caspase-8 mRNA (p <0.05) and subsequently increased caspase-8/caspase-9 ratio (p<0.01) and decreased apoptosis in compare to cup group.
Conclusion: The dose of 80 mg/ml BA via decreasing cup-induced neuro-inflammation and neuro-apoptosis has protective effects in this model.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Anxiety is one of the clinical signs of viral diseases such as Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), which can threaten the immune system. This study aims to investigate the effect of health-promoting lifestyle and psychological well-being on COVID-19-induced anxiety in non-medical students
Methods & Materials: This is an analytical/correlational study conducted on 307 non-medical students of Islamic Azad University in Tabriz, Iran, who were participated voluntarily in the study. They completed the Corona Disease Anxiety Scale developed by Alipour et al. (2019), Ryff’s Scales of Psychological Well-Being (SPWB), and Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile (HPLP) developed by Walker et al. (1987). The collected data were analyzed in SPSS v. 20 software by using the stepwise regression analysis
Ethical Considerations: This research conducted based on the Ethical Committee of University of Tabriz (TABRIZU.REC.1399.018).
Results: Two SPWB components of “personal growth” and “positive relations with others” were able to predict the COVID-19-induced anxiety, which together explained 72% of anxiety variance in students. Moreover, two HPLP components of “spiritual growth” and “responsibility” could predict the COVID-19-induced anxiety and together explained 9% of the anxiety variance.
Conclusion: Promoting personal and spiritual growth, having positive relations with others, and responsibility can significantly reduce the anxiety induced by the COVID-19.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Phonological awareness skills, as part of phonological processing abilities, can predict the extent of success in acquiring written and reading skills. Phonological awareness skills are of concern in children with severe and profound hearing loss, which has been less studied in this population. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate these skills in Cochlear-Implanted (CI) children and compare them with their healthy counterparts.
Methods & Materials: The study population included 25 CI children and 25 healthy children, aged 4-6 years, who were monolingual Persian speakers. The selected CI and healthy children were selected from the Rehabilitation Center of Naqmeh and the Kindergartens in Mashhad, City, Iran, respectively. After selecting each participant, the test of phonological awareness was administered. To compare the mean scores of each subtest, the obtained data were analyzed in SPSS v. 21 using the Mann-Whitney U test.
Ethical Considerations: This study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (Code: IR.MUMS.REC.1396.263).
Results: The mean scores of CI children were significantly lower than that of their healthy peers in all phonological awareness subscales (P<0.05).
Conclusion: The obtained data suggested that healthy children presented better performance than the CI children in the phonological awareness test. Poor phonological awareness skills in CI children seem to be associated with hearing deprivation before cochlear implantation; thus, it requires to speed up surgery at an early age and the implementation of an effective rehabilitation program.

Abstract
Introduction: Infertility is one of the bitter events of married life that has various psychological consequences. On the other hand, there are different treatments to reduce its psychological effects. The purpose of this research was to compare the effectiveness of emotion-focused couple therapy and Gottman couple therapy on marital burnout and depression in infertile couples.
Methods: The present research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of this research included infertile couples of Arak city in 1400, of which 54 couples were selected using available sampling method and 18 couples were randomly assigned in three groups (two experimental groups and one control group). The experimental intervention groups received emotion-focused couple therapy (10 sessions of 90 minutes) and Gottman couple therapy (10 sessions of 90 minutes), and the control group did not receive any intervention. After two months, the follow-up phase was done. In order to collect data, Beck's (1967) depression questionnaire and Pines' (1966) marital burnout questionnaire were used, and the data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance and SPSS version 26 software. This research is approved by the ethics committee with the code IR.IAU.B.REC.1400.026. Also, the principles of confidentiality, written informed consent and destruction of participants' information have been observed.
Results: The results showed that Gottman couple therapy and emotion-focused couple therapy reduce couples' depression (2 = 0.265, P = 0.001, F = 18.94) and marital burnout (2 = 0.348, P = 0.001, F = 27.99) has been effective. In addition, emotion-focused couple therapy has been more effective in reducing couples' depression (p=0.033) and marital burnout (P=0.001) than Gottman's couple therapy.
Conclusions: According to the results of the research, it can be said that emotion-focused couple therapy is more effective than Gottman's couple therapy in reducing couples' depression and marital exhaustion. Therefore, couple therapists are advised to use emotion-focused couple therapy to improve depression and marital burnout of infertile couples.
