Abstract
Background: Catalase is a basic antioxidant enzyme that exits in human organs, mainly in the liver. The liver as a main tissue in the body that plays a substantial role in the catabolism and detoxification of drugs is a target of toxic and carcinogenic effects of many drugs. In the present study, the side effects of an anti-cancer compound of oxali-palladium on the function and structure of liver catalase were investigated.
Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, changes in the enzyme activity were studied by conversion in substrate (hydrogen peroxide) absorption at wavelength of 240 nm, using UV-visible spectroscopy in the absence and presence of different concentrations of oxali-palladium at room temperature. Furthermore, the effect of oxali-palladium on the tertiary structure of catalase was investigated using fluorescence spectroscopy via studying the changes in the intrinsic enzyme emission in the absence and presence of different concentrations of oxali-palladiumat at both room and physiologic temperatures.
Results: Kinetics data showed that the Km value of bovine liver catalase was 26.8 mM. Moreover, in the presence of different concentrations of oxali-palladium‚ the enzyme activity showed a gradual decrease in a dose-dependent manner (p<0.001). Fluorescence data presented changes in the tertiary structure of the enzyme by quenching fluorescence emission‚ that indicated alteration in protein chromophore environment.
Conclusion: It could be concluded that inhibition of catalase enzyme by anticancer drug of oxali-palladium increases the content of reactive oxygen species. Increase in reactive oxygen species values is one of the chief mechanisms of different anticancer drugs.

Abstract
Background: The overuse of therapeutic antibiotics results in the drug resistance. The excessive use of antibiotics causes the mutations in the microorganisms and the emergence of new microorganisms which are resistant against the common antibiotics. With regard to limitations and known side effects of antibiotics, the exploring of antimicrobial compounds seems necessary. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the antimicrobial effects of aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Chevil against Staphylococcus epidermidis PTCC 1435, Yersinia enterocolitica PTCC 1221 and Enterobacter aeruginosa PTCC 1151 and to compare them with the common therapeutic antibiotics.
Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, after collecting plants from the highlands of Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari province, the extraction was carried out by the maceration method. To evaluate the antimicrobial activity, Disc diffusion test with Kirby-Bauer method was used. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) were determined by using the dilution method.
Results: The highest inhibition zone diameter in 40 mg/ml was related to Staphylococcus epidermidis and the minimum diameter in this concentration was related to Gram-negative bacteria, Enterobacter aeruginosa. MIC of aqueous and ethanolic extracts for Enterobacter aeruginosa 64 and 32 mg/ml and MBC of ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Enterobacter aeruginosa were 128 and 64 mg/ml respectively.
Conclusion: The ethanolic extract of the Chevil compared with the common therapeutic antibiotics had more inhibitory effect on studied bacteria. Furthermore, Chevil extracts showed greater inhibitory effect on Gram-positive bacteria in comparison with Gram-negative bacteria.

Abstract
Background: This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of insulin versus oral hypoglycemic drugs for gestational diabetes treatment, using evidence based medicine approach.
Materials and Methods: This secondary study was conducted by selecting a comprehensive systematic review through searching the Cochrane library. To calculate the number needed to treat (NNT), outcomes such as cesarean section, macrosomia, birth weight more than 90th percentile, operative vaginal delivery, labor induction, post partum hemorrhage, and shoulder dystocia has been considered while neonatal hypoglycemia, NICU hospitalization and fetal distress were considered for calculating number needed to harm (NNH). To calculate the likelihood of helped versus harmed (LHH), macrosomia and hypoglysmia were selected. Data were analyzed with Wilson score test.
Results: The NNT for above outcomes were 3, -14, -5, 16, -3, 31, and 32, respectively. Among them cesarean section was significance. Calculated NNH for side effects were 6, 15, and -17 which only was significance for neonatal hypoglycemia (p<0.05). The LHH was estimated -0.43.
Conclusion: Considering LHH, it seems that the benefit of insulin in management of gestational diabetes is more than metformin. But with respect to issues such as low sample size of trials, lack of assessment the maternal hypoglysemia as complication of insulin therapy, the findings should be considered cautiously.

Abstract
Background: With the increasing use of nanoparticles of zinc Oxide (nZnO) in the industry, the pharmaceutical and chemical industry, the effects of the nanoparticles on opioid dependence and its possible interaction with vitamin C (as an antioxidant agent) has not been indicated. This study aimed to clarify the effect of ZnO nanoparticles on morphine dependence in the presence and absence of vitamin C in CPP method.
Materials and Methods: In this study, adult male mice weighing 25±3 g were used in the groups which received different doses of morphine(2/5, 5, 10 mg/kg, Sc), Nano ZnO (1, 2.5, 5, 10 mg/kg, IP), vitamin C (1, 5, 25 mg/kg, IP) and groups which receiving combination of vitamin C and nano ZnO. All categories received morphine 5 mg / kg, for induction and diagnosis of dependence in CPP.
Results: Nano ZnO concentrations (2.5, 5, 10 mg/kg, IP) caused a significant decrease in morphine CPP (p <0.01, p <0.001) and the 1 mg/kg of nano was ineffective. Vitamin C in doses of 5 and 25 mg/kg decreased the expression of morphine-induced conditioned place preference (p<0.01) and a value of 1 mg/kg had no effects. All doses of ZnO in the presence of ineffective dose of vitamin C showed a stronger inhibitory effect than to alone nZnO in morphine CCP.
Conclusion: The combination of vitamin C and Nano ZnO are more effective to deal with the psychological dependence to morphin and probably can provide a new approach to addiction treatment.
