Abstract

Introduction: Hp  is  the  most  common  human  infection  which  can  result  in  gastritis, peptic  ulcer  and  gastric adenocarcinoma  and  lymphoma.  Several  combinations  of  drugs  have  been  tested  in  HP  eradication.  Thyme  is  a  herbal  drug  that  has  antiseptic  and  GI  anti  spasmodic  characteristics. In  this  study  we  tested  Thyme  combination  regimen  in  comparison  with routine  regimes. 
Materials  and  Methods: This  is  a  randomized  clinical  trial  study.  90  patients  with  GI  symptoms, confirmed  peptic  ulcer  and  HP  infections, were  divided  into  three  groups, group  A (Omeperazole, Bismuth, Metronidazole  and  Tetracycline), group  B: Omeperazole, Bismuth, Metronidazole, Tetracycline  and  Thyme  and  group  C:  Bismuth, Omeperazole, Tetracycline  and  Thyme.  Duration  of  treatment  was  2  weeks . after  treatment  they  were  given  Ranitidine  for  2  weeks  and  2  weeks  without any  treatment  and  then they  were  evaluated  for  HP  and  peptic  ulcer.
 Results: Distribution  of  sex, age, and  smoking  was  equal  in  three  groups, 81 (90%)  of  cases  had  upper  epigastric  pain.  Clinical  recovery  rate  was  96.6%  in  group  B  and  C  which  was  more  than  group  A  (p=0.43). After treatment  endoscopy  showed  70%  complete  relief  in  group  C  which  was  significantly  more  than  two  other  groups (p=0.04). Complete  response  rate  (negative  RUT+ negative  HP  histology)  was  46.7%  in  group  C (p=0.03).
Conclusion: In  general,  group  C  regimen  that  substituted Thyme  with  Metronidazol  was  more  effective  in  HP  eradication.  With  regard  to  high  effectiveness, low  complication  and  low  cost  of  Thyme, we  suggest  that  adding  this  drug  to  routine  quadriple  HP  eradication  regimens  could  be  useful.

Abstract

Introduction: Diagnosing parturients in risk of cesarean section early in the beginning of active phase of labor, is very important. This may let take necessary action to accelernate labor (delivery) and prevent maternal mortality and morbidity due to late cesarean section. Materials and Methods: During a period of 8 months from July 2004 to March 2005, 216 primiparous women, with term pregnancy and cephalic single fetus, referred to Imam Reza hospital in (during) active phase of labor, were studied. Changes of cervical dilatation and descent of the conceptus were observed. Parturients were devided to two groups, vaginal delivery and cesurean section. Protraction or arrest disorders were the indications of cesarean deliveries. Findings were analysed through using T-Test, unilateral variance and Chi square test. Results: The more changes in cervical dilatation in the first 2 hours of active phase of labor, the less possibility of cesarean delivery (p<0.001). Also the more rate of the conceptus descent in the first 2 hours of active phase of labor, the less rate of cesarean section (p<0.001). There was no significant statistical relationship between condition of membranes at the onset of active labor and method of delivery, however there was a significant relationship between oxytocin augmentation and method of delivery (p<0.001). Conclusion: In primiparous women with term pregnancy, vaginal delivery would be fairly predictable by observing changes of cervical dilatation and conceptus descent during the first 2 hours of active phase of labor.

Abstract

Background: Aurein 1/2 is a 13-residue peptide with a vast antimicrobial and anticancer activity. Two- dimensional NMR spectroscopy of peptide solubilized in the 70% TFE (2, 2, 2-Trifluoroethanol) indicated an alpha-helical conformation. The mechanism of its action is not yet fully recognized. This study was designed to improve the antimicrobial activity and relationship between subsequence-activity in Aurein 1/2 and its analoges. Analogs of this peptide were designed and synthesized. Methods and Materials: The G1F3/RW and F3W analogs and retro - analog were synthesized with solide phase and purified via HPLC and lyophilized. These analogs were assayed by several methods: amino acid analysis, HPLC, and electrospray mass spectrometry. Then antimicrobial activity of the peptides was assessed by using the standard microdilution susceptibility test. Results: The data demonstrated that G1F3/RW analog had a higher activity and results of test figure of minimum inhibitory concentration for F3W analog had three levels. But the native, F3W analog and retro-analog was inactive. Conclusion: The higher activity of G1F3/RW in compare to F3W may be related to the positive charge of Arg that leading stronger interaction with the negative charges on the membrane surface. The result showed that reversed direction of aurein 1/2 significantly effects on activity of the peptide. It is also suggested inactivation of reto-analog amino acid type, position and size should be cautious for peptides designed as drug because it may be effect to control dimerization and maintenance of antimicrobial activity of the peptide.

Abstract

Background: Hydatid cyst, a parasite disease, can involve liver more than other organs. The most serious complication of the cyst is rupture which may spread out to biliary duct, hollow organ, or abdominal cavity directly. Elective treatment is emergent surgery. Case: A 28 rural woman referring with abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting due to car accident. Abnormal findings consisted of: abdominal distention, reduction of bowel sounds, tenderness and generalized guarding and hive lesions in the anterior chest wall, upper abdomen, and both forearms. In sonography, a lot of free liquid in abdominal and pelvic cavity, and three hetroechoic masses in the right lobe of the liver were reported. Four days after abdominal surgery the patient was discharged with Albendazole order. Conclusion: Intra-abdominal rupture of hydatid cyst is the most serious that due to trauma complication and elective treatment is emergency surgery.

Abstract

Background: The existence of estrogen and progesterone receptors, p53, human epidermal receptor-2(HER-2) and cathepsin-D are among the prognostic markers for breast cancer. In this study, we investigated the relationship between these factors and lymph-node involvement. Materials and Methods: In this case-control analytic study, 105 patients with breast cancer were investigated. After detecting breast mass, surgical biopsy was done and the status of the estrogen and progesterone receptors, p53, HER-2, and cathepsin-D were studied. Collected data were registered in a checklist and were subjected to analysis. Results: There was no relationship between lymph-node involvement and estrogen and progesterone receptors, p53, cathepsin-D and HER-2. Conclusion: In order to get more precise results about hormonal receptors, p53, HER-2 and cathespin-D, a similar research with a larger sample size over a longer period of time is needed.

Abstract

Background: Studies in different species indicate that a variety of different inhibitors may influence myometrium during pregnancy and withdrawal of one or more of them leads to the onset of labor pain. Hence, this study was done to investigate the association between parathyroid hormone-related peptide1-34 (PTH-rp1-34) and labor pain. Materials and Methods: This study was a case-control one. Plasma PTH-rp1-34, PTH, total calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, and alkaline phosphatase concentrations were quantified for 152 normal pregnant women at term (76 women at the onset of labor pain, as the case group and 76 women without labor pain, as the control group). The subjects had no pregnancy related complications. Results: The mean of plasma PTHrp concentrations in the group with labor pain (12.36±0.60 ng/ml) did not differ from that in the group without labor pain (13.57±0.63 ng/ml). The means of plasma PTHrp concentration amounts in the group with labor pain and the group without labor pain were 28.92±1.66 pg/ml and 31.88±1.64 pg/ml, respectively and there was no significant difference between the two groups. There were no significant difference in plasma calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and alkaline phosphatase concentrations in the two groups too. Conclusion: In this study, the endocrinal role of PTHrp and the onset of labor pain was not confirmed.

Abstract

Background: Among respiratory support techniques, nasal continuous positive airway pressure (NCPAP) and mechanical ventilation (MV) are more known for their effectivity in reducing complications associated with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). Moreover, early application of NCPAP and administration of surfactant are effective in decreasing the need for MV and its adverse effects. This study was designed to compare NCPAP and MV after administration of surfactant in preterm neonates with RDS. Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial, 60 preterm neonates (<32 weeks) were evaluated. After receiving one dose of surfactant (4 cc/kg), the subjects were randomly divided into treatment and control groups, and respiratory support was established via positive airway pressure or MV. Results: There were no significant differences between the neonates in the two groups in terms of gestational age and birth weight. The mean duration of MV was significantly lower in the treatment group (p=0.001). On day 3, the number of ventilator-dependent neonates in the control group was more (26.7% versus 83.3%). There were no significant differences between the two groups in the number of second surfactant doses, mortality rate, and the number of patients who had developed short-term complications during hospital stay. Conclusion: In a significant number of preterm babies with RDS, NCPAP can be extubated after receiving one dose of surfactant. This is a potentially useful modality for respiratory support with a low mortality and morbidity rate and limited complications in very premature infants.

Abstract

Background: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) which is characterized by chronic abdominal pain and changes in bowel movements is the most common gastrointestinal disease. Curcuma is one of the traditional medications which has been considered in treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. In this study, the effects of curcuma on IBS were investigated. Materials and Methods: In a double-blind randomized study, 140 IBS patients after meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria, regardless of sex and age and based on internist’s diagnosis, were involved. The patients were randomly divided into case (curcuma) and control (placebo) groups which included 69 and 71 patients, respectively. For converting subjective criteria to objective ones, treatment forms were filled out before the treatment and two and four weeks after the treatment according to visual analog scale. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and t-test. Results: Using curcuma and placebo before the treatment and two and four weeks after that improved patients’ clinical symptoms except for vomiting (p=0.001) however, no significant differences were observed in the effectiveness of placebo and curcuma on improvement of clinical symptoms of patients in case and control groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: Using curcuma does not offer any significant differences in controlling and reducing the symptoms of IBS in comparison to the placebo, but its application improves the clinical symptoms of IBS patients.

Abstract

Background: Nowadays, the use of inflammatory biomarkers in the diagnosis of appendicitis is on the rise. On the other hand, the role of oxygen free radicals in various inflammatory states has been verified. Noticing the high prevalence of negative appendectomy (9.3-22.2%), the aim of this study was to investigate the level of blood total antioxidant capacity (TAC) as a biomarker for early diagnosis of acute appendicitis. Materials and Methods: In this prospective analytical trial, over a one-year period, 407 patients, with preoperative diagnosis of acute appendicitis who had undergone operation, were studied. After measuring the TAC level, data were analyzed through the analytic ROC curve and parametric mean comparison tests. Results: Of all the patients, 298 were identified with appendicitis. TAC levels in adult female and male groups were respectively 663.9±164.75 and 752.58±167.37 µm/L which revealed a significant difference (p<0.0001). Also, in children, the mean of TAC level in perforated appendicitis sub-group was significantly greater than those in gangrenous and suppurative groups. Conclusion: TAC level can be used as a predictive factor for the diagnosis of perforated appendicitis in children however, it cannot be used as a biomarker for the diagnosis of appendicitis. Because of the significant difference existing between the level of TAC in male and female patients, further studies are suggested to investigate the level of inflammatory biomarkers with respect to menstrual cycle in women.

Abstract

Background: Diagnosis of acute appendicitis is one of the challenges that surgeons face in the emergency ward. Although Alvarado score has been recommended in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis, this criterion has some limitations in terms of age, sex, and race. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Alvarado score in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis based on the age and gender. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 407 patients who underwent operation with the preoperative diagnosis of acute appendicitis from June 2008 to August 2009 were included in the study. The patients’ data were recorded by the investigators. The data were compared by parametric tests. The sensitivity and specificity were determined by the optimal cut-off point on ROC curve using MedCalc software version 10.2.0.0. Results: The optimal cut-off point for women was lower than men (6 and 7, respectively). The rate of negative appendectomy in the group with Alvarado scores 9 and 10 was 11.8%, while the negative appendectomy rate in the other two groups with Alvarado scores 7 and 8 and 5 and 6 were 29.9% and 52.8%, respectively. Conclusion: The diagnostic value of Alvarado score of 8 and less in physical examination is lower than the abdominal tenderness exam alone. Also, the cut-off point for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in women should be considered lower than that in men. On the other hand, the cut-off point in adolescents and children is higher than adults.

Abstract

Background: Brucellosis is one of the most common bacterial zoonotic infections in the world. The incidence of this infection is quite high and is endemic in several countries. According to WHO report, the prevalence of zoonotic and human brucellosis is on the rise in the Mediterranean region, the Middle East, and west Asian countries. The aim of this study was to investigate the usage of silver nanoparticles in treatment of brucellosis. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, the activity of silver nanoparticles against Brucella meltensis 16M was determined by agar well diffusion method. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of silver nanoparticles were determined by macrodilution method. Also, the antibacterial effect of silver nanoparticles was studied in mouse model. Results: The results showed that silver nanoparticles in low concentrations can kill Brucella melitensis 16M in laboratory conditions. MIC and MBC of silver nanoparticles were 4 ppm and 6 ppm in macrodilution method, respectively. The anti-brucella effect of silver nanoparticles was also observed in mouse model. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that silver nanoparticles can be used against brucellosis.

Abstract

Background: Brucellosis is caused by brucella which is a facultative intracellular pathogen invading both professional and nonprofessional phagosytic cells. Eucalyptus globulus is one of the most widely used medicinal plants in folk medicine throughout the world. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial effects of Eucalyptus globulus extracts on intramacrophage Brucella melitensis 16M. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, after preparing aquatic, ethanolic, and acetonic extracts of Eucalyptus globules, the effect of the extracts on intramacrophge survival of B. melitensis 16M obtained from cell culture of Balb/c mice peritoneal macrophages was studied. In order to do this, after lysis of macrophages, through preparation of serial dilutions and culture on Mueller Hinton agar medium, the number of colonies grown was counted. Results: The maximum antimicrobial activity of Eucalyptus globulus extracts on intramacrophage B. melitensis 16 M were in 1:40 dilution (21.62 mg/ml) of the aquatic extract, 1: 640 dilution (1.26 mg/ml) of the ethanolic extract, and 1:320 dilution (2.59 mg/ml) of the acetonic extract after 24h. Conclusion: Aquatic, acetonic, and ethanolic extracts of Eucalyptus globulus possess antimicrobial properties against intramacrophage B. melitensis 16M and ethanolic extract has the most effective antimicrobial activity on intramacrophage Brucella melitensis therefore, these extracts can be useful in treatment of brucellosis.

Abstract

Background: Several studies have demonstrated that the levels of inflammatory markers in healthy women are under the influence of menstrual cycle changes. The aim of this study was to compare blood levels of inflammatory markers in women with appendicitis in different phases of menstrual cycle. Materials and Methods: In this case-control study, 70 female and 12 male patients with appendicitis, and 61 healthy women were enrolled based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Inflammatory markers, such as leukocyte count, CRP, ESR, and TNF-α were measured and compared using student t-test and one-way ANOVA based on different phases of menstrual cycle. Results: There were no significant changes in the ESR, CRP, and TNF-α concentrations and the number of peripheral blood leukocytes in different phases of the menstrual cycle in women with appendicitis. The mean number of leukocytes and CRP concentrations were significantly higher in patients with appendicitis compared with the control group. Conclusion: The findings show that there are not significant differences in the inflammatory markers in women with appendicitis during the different phases of menstrual cycles. It seems that day to day variation of sexual hormones in the menstrual cycle have led to very different conclusions about the change of inflammatory markers in different phases of menstrual cycle. Therefore, studies investigating inflammatory markers in women with acute appendicitis based on day of menstrual cycle, time of sampling in the day, and severity of appendicitis are suggested.

Abstract

Background: Increased insulin resistance, inflammatory factors and parameters of oxidative stress are associated with the development of diabetes complications. This study was designed to determine the beneficial effects of synbiotic Gaz on insulin resistance, inflammatory factor and oxidative stress in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Materials and Methods: This randomized crossover double-blinded controlled clinical trial was performed among 62 diabetic patients aged 35-70 y. Subjects were randomly assigned to consume of either the synbiotic (n=62) or control Gaz (n=62) for 6 weeks. A 3-week washout period considered. The synbiotic Gaz was consisted of a probiotic viable and heat-resistance strain Lactobacillus sporogenes (1×107 CFU), 0.04 g inulin and 0.05 g stevia per 1 g as sweeteners' substances. Control Gaz (the same substance without probiotic bacteria and prebiotic inulin) was. Patients were received synbiotic and control foods in a 7 g package thrice a day. Fasting blood samples were taken at baseline and after 6-week intervention to measure insulin resistance, hs-CRP and biomarkers of oxidative stress.

Results: Consumption of synbiotic Gaz, compared with control, resulted in a significant decrease in serum insulin (p=0.02) and hs-CRP levels (p=0.008). Supplementation with synbiotic Gaz led also to a significant increase in plasma total glutathione (p<0.0001) compared to the control.

Conclusion: In conclusion, consumption of synbiotic Gaz for 6 weeks resulted in decreased levels of serum insulin, hs-CRP and increased levels of plasma total glutathione.

Abstract

Background: Factor XIII deficiency is an extremely rare, autosomal recessive coagulation disorder with estimated prevalence of 1/2000000 worldwide. This disorder represents with different clinical manifestations including, umbilical cord bleeding, recurrent abortion and CNS bleeding. CNS bleeding is a common but life threating complication of disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a common polymorphism of thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) occurrence of CNS bleeding in patients with severe factor XIII deficiency.

Materials and Methods: This case control study was performed on 34 patients with factor XIII deficiency and history of CNS bleeding and 36 patients with factor XIII deficiency but without CNS bleeding as control group. Initially all patients were molecularly analyzed for factor XIII deficiency, then both groups were assessed for common TAFI Thr325Ile polymorphism. Finally obtained data was analyzed by SPSS software.

Results: Molecular analysis of TAFI Thr325Ile polymorphism revealed that almost all patients with CNS bleeding (89%) had this mutation that in 67% of patients was homozygote. There is a significant relationship between Thr325Ile polymorphism in homozygote manner with incidence of CNS bleeding in factor XIII deficient (OR 18.9, 95% CI 3.8 to 95.1).

Conclusion: It seems that Thr325Ile polymorphism is a suitable prognostic factor in patients with severe factor XIII deficiency and this probably polymorphism increases risk of CNS bleeding about 20 fold.

Abstract

Background: Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) has estrogenic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects and traditionally used for treatment of infertile women. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in women, which affects 5-10% of them in their reproductive age. This study has examined the effects of hydroalcoholic extract of Fennel on female Wistar rats with PCOS.

Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 30 rats (200 ± 20 gr), was injected 2 ml of estradiol valerate subcutaneously and 6 rats were considered as control(intact). After 60 days, the rats were divided into control, sham and experimental groups. Rats in experimental group were treated with 250, 500, 1000(mg/kg BW) of intraperitoneal injections extract of Fennel for 10 days. Serum FSH, LH and Testosterone were measured by ELISA and serum levels of these hormones between treatments all groups were compared using One-Way ANOVA at a significance level of p<0.05.

Results: The data suggests that extract of Fennel can increase serum concentrations of FSH and decrease LH and Testosterone in treatment groups. As FSH is 500 and 1000 mg/kg levels of doses, LH and Testosterone in dose 1000 mg/kg have shown statistically significant differences compared to control groups.

Conclusion: Considering the increasing positive effect of extract of Fennel on serum concentration of FSH and decreaseing LH and Testosterone in rats with PCOS, this compound might be considered for treatment of the patients.

Abstract

Background: Since the anti-inflammatory effects of usual doses of morphine (10mg/kg) is proved, and also, regarding to the role of C-fibers in the release of substance P and CGRP and progression of inflammation were found, and the other hand, the excitatory effects of very low doses of morphine (1µg/kg) on C-fibers have also been reported, present study has examined the role of C-fibers, usual and very low doses of morphine in presence or reduced C-fibers on paw edema induced by sub plantar injection of formalin.

Materials & Methods: In this study, male Wistar rats (180-200g) were Categorized into two groups. One as vehicle (which received neonatal capsaicin vehicle, C-normal) and experimental (which received neonatal capsaicin, C-lesion). Each category contains three groups which were treated by saline, 10 mg/kg and 1µg/kg of morphine (i.p). In each group, paw edema volume induced by injection of 0.05 cc of 2.5% formalin, was acquired by plethysmometric test.

Results: In C-normal groups, morphine showed an anti-inflammatory effect at the dose of 10mg/kg (p<0.01) and pro-inflammatory effect at the dose of 1µg/kg (p<0.01). Reduction of C-fibers in C-lesion groups diminished the inflammation induced by formalin (p<0.001). Also in these groups, 10 mg/kg dose of morphine showed a more potent anti-inflammatory effects (p<0.001) and the pro-inflammatory effects of 1µg/kg dose of morphine reduced (p<0.001).

Conclusion: C-fibers by releasing substance P and CGRP can play an important role in inflammation induction in injured tissue. The results showed that, the reduction of these fibers can lead to inflammation reduction. So, the presences of C-fibers are so important in inflammation induction and edema.

Abstract

Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a severe complication of diabetes and the leading cause of blindness among working adults worldwide. Chronic extra cellular hyperglycemia in diabetes stimulates reaction oxygen species (ROS) production and increase oxidative stress. Glutathion S- transferases (GSTs) enzymes have been shown to protect human from reactive oxygen compounds damage. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the genetic polymorphism of GSTP1 is associated with DR.

Materials and Methods: This case–control study, included 70 patients with DR and 70 healthy volunteers. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood leukocytes. Genotypes were determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). Statistical analysis was performed using the MedCalc program for Windows version 12.

Results: The prevalence of genotype frequencies of the GSTP1 Ile/Ile and Ile/Val were 71.42% and 28.57% respectively, in DR subject, whiles in healthy volunteers were 78.58% and 21.42%, respectively. Statistical analysis has not emerged significant difference from the comparison of either genotype (&Rho>0.05).

Conclusion: There was no evidence that GSTP1 variants were associated with DR in studied population. Further research is required to clarify role of GSTP1 in DR.

Abstract

Background: The type of dressing used has great effct on pain relief when dressing patients is changed. So this study is performed to compare the effect of Acticoat dressing and normal dressing on pain of burn patients during dressing change.

Materials and Methods: This clinical trial was done on 64 patients with second and third degrees burn wounds in Vali-asr hospital. The patients were randomly divided in two groups (receiver of the Acticoat) and control (the receiver of silver sulfadiazine cream 1%) for 15 days. Pain was examined during dressing change by using numerical evaluation of the degree of pain on the first, seventh and fifteenth days. Finally, the data was examined by using statistical tests, Chi-square, Mann-Whitney tests, RM ANOVA.

Results: The results showed that there was no significant differences between the groups in baseline pain intensity statistically (p=0.20). Pain intensity had statistically significant difference in the experimental group and control group in the seventh and fifteent days of the study (p>0.001) so that the experimental group experienced less pain.

Conclusion: Acticoat dressing is a simple and practical method in burn patients according to the present results of study which is preferred in terms of reducing pain during dressing change compared to the conventional method.

Abstract

        Background: Dendrimers are a subset of branched structures that have certain structural order. The aim of this study was to investigate the performance of Polypropylenimine-G2 (PPI-G2) dendrimers in removal of Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus from aqueous solution .

        Materials and Methods: In this experimental study , initially dilution of 103 CFU/ml was prepared from each strain of bacteria . Then , different concentrations of dendrimers (0.5, 5, 50 and 500 µg/ml) was added to water . In order to determine the efficiency of dendrimers in removal of bacteria, samples were taken at different times (0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 min) and were cultured on nutrient agar medium . Samples were incubated for 24 hours at 37 ° C and then the number of colonies was counted .

       Results: By the increasment of dendrimer concentration and contact time , the number of bacteria in aqueous solution decreased. In times of 40 , 50 and 60 minutes, and the concentrations of 50 and 500 µg/ml, all kinds of bacteria in aqueous solution were removed . 0.5 µg/ml of dendrimer concentration had not effect in reducing the number of Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis . The effect of dendrimer on gram-negative bacteria was weaker than gram-positive bacteria.

       Conclusion: Results of this study indicated that PP I -G2 dendrimer is able to remove Escherichia coli , Proteus mirabilis , Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis in aqueous solution. However, using dendrimers can be considered as a new approach for drinking water disinfection but it requires further wide range studies.
