Abstract
Although the longest part of the gastriontedtinal (GL) trace is small intestine in contrast of colon, mass lesions are rare. Incidence of small intestine tumors is about 40/1 of the colorectal neoplasms. The clinical presentations of small intedtinal tumors include: Anemia, GL Bleeding, abdominal pain and intestinal obstruction. A case that is reported is a man who had two massive lower Gl Bleeding within 3 months and the esophagogastroduodenoscopy had been normal two times. The patient was free of symptoms for past 4 years after. After this the patient was referred to hospital with typical symptoms of small intestinal obstruction. After slued and electrolyte correction. The patient was operated. The origin of past GL bleeding and recent mechanical obstruction was discovered to be bengin leiomyoms.

Abstract
Background: Sensory signals and intrinsic activity of the neuronal circuits deeply influence on developing the sensory systems in early life. Light deprivation of animals is known as an established method in assessment of environmental signals in development of the nervous system. Methods and Materials: In this experimental study eighteen male rats at 75 days of postnatal age were used. The animals were divided in two groups, one reared in a cycle of 12light/12dark (light reared-LR) and the other keep in darkness since birth through experiment (Light deprived- LD). The animals were trained in a Morris water maze for spatial memory. They must navigate the maze until finding a platform hidden 1 cm below of water. Then, the time required and the distance spent to find the platform were measured for assessment of the animal behavior. Each animal was given 4 trials/day and the experiment lasted for 6 days. This stage was followed by probe and postprobe tests to evaluate how the learning is consolidated. Results: The results indicated that, compared to their LD counterparts, the LR group was superior in finding the platform where they required a noticeable shorter time to hit the platform(p<0.009). Also, animals in the LR group steered a shorter distance to find the target than did the LD animals(p<0.034). While the two groups elicited a considerable difference during the first half of the experiment both LR and LD rats demonstrated a similar behavior over the second half of the study. Conclusion: The light deprivation negatively influences the spatial navigation in water maze so that the visually deprived rats show less ability in searching the maze based on the spatial cues.

Abstract
Introduction: Cecal volvulus is an emergency surgical acute abdomen. In this condition cecum, ileum terminal and ascending colon becomes twisted on its mesenteric anticlock wise direction rotation ranging 180-360 degrees. The cecal volvulus is caused by a lack of fixation of cecum to retroperitoneum. The usual presentation consists of severe colicky abdominal pain with asymmetric abdominal distension. In this article two cases of cecal volvulus are presented. Cases: The first case was a 74 year old female which presented with sudden abdominal pain & asymmetrical severe distension following 3 days constipation. After Plain abdominal x-ray and abdominal CT scan, right hemicolectomy was performed. The second case was a 70 year old female who following 4 days constipation was presented with abdominal pain and distension. Supine and erect abdominal x-ray showed colon hyperaeration and multiple air-fluid levels. The gangrenous colon was resected and colostomy was done. Conclusion: Despite other causes of intestinal obstruction or sigmoid volvulus which can sometimes be treated medically, the treatment of cecal volvolus is always surgery and consisted of cecum and ascending colon resection.

Abstract
Background: Adolescents, as a large age group in the world, face many physical, mental and social problems in their puberty period. Health education proper to their needs and through new educational methods is of great importance. This study mainly aims to examine the impact of peer education approaches on girls' performance regarding pubertal physical health. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, through random sampling, 100 female pupils were divided into two groups of experimental (n=50) and control (n=50). The self-made questionnaire, employed in this study, was based on peer approach. After 1.5 months, the participants' performance was evaluated through the post-test and compared to the pre-test results for the two groups. Scoring was conducted out of 100 and the scores under 50 indicated weak performance, those between 50 and 75 showed an average performance while scores above 75 indicated good performance. Results: Peer based educational approaches improved adolescent girls physical health. Statistical tests also revealed a significant difference between the mean of awareness and practice score in the two groups (p<0.001). Conclusion: Peer education methods result in the empowerment of adolescents, the provision of opportunities for them to participate in activities, and the improvement of communication between mothers and their daughters.

Abstract
Background: Nowadays, many Iranian families, depending on the family members’ level of interest, tend to keep pet animals. Psychological studies have rarely dealt with the impact of pets on family performance and individuals’ mental health. The purpose of this study was to compare family performance and mental health in individuals who own pets and those who do not. Materials and Methods: In this case-control study, 152 participants (80 pet keeping and 72 non-pet keeping) living in Isfahan were selected through stratified random sampling and completed Family Assessment Device (FAD), General Health Questionnaire (GHQ), and a demographic questionnaire. Data analysis was done through multivariate regression and covariance analysis. Results: The results indicated significant differences between the pet keeping and non-pet keeping groups in terms of anxiety, sleep disorders, relationships, and emotional involvement therefore, it can be concluded that non-pet keeping individuals have more anxiety and sleep disorder symptoms, whereas pet keeping individuals present more problems in terms of emotional involvement and their relationships(p<0.05). Conclusion: According to the results, it is suggested that in keeping pets, greater attention should be to cultural factors. Also, in some circumstances keeping pets should be recommended for reduction of anxiety and elevation of sense of security and relaxation.

Abstract
Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) includes two basic categories ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD) that the etiology of which remains unclear. Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) promoter polymorphisms are a good candidate for susceptibility to IBD as there is a significant relationship between them. The main aim of this study was to assess TNFα gene polymorphisms with IBD susceptibility at positions -1031in Iranian patients.
Materials and Methods: In this case-control study, were studied 101 patients with IBD (86 ulcerative colitis, 15 Crohn's disease) and 100 healthy controls were studied. PCR-RFLP (Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) was used for determining of genotyping. In following, allele frequency and genotype distribution of polymorphism T> C in TNFα gene between the case and control groups were typed.
Results: The frequency of genotype TT, TC and CC among patients was 64.4%, 28.7% and 6.9% and in control group was 63%, 29% and 8%, respectively. Also, allele frequency T-1031 of TNFα gene in IBD patients was high, while there is no statistical significant(p>0.05).
Conclusion: There was no significant correlation between TNFα gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to IBD at position -1031. Our results showed that TNFα gene polymorphisms cannot be considered as a potential prognostic marker cause of IBD in Iranian population.

Abstract
Background: Ultrasonography (US) is the most important imaging modality in detecting both intrauterine and ectopic pregnancies. This study aimed to compare serum β-hCG level with Transvaginal Ultrasound in symptomatic patients with ectopic pregnancy.
Materials and Methods: A total of 210 patients with definite diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy were enrolled prospectively. All patients underwent transvaginal US by an experienced radiologist who was blind to the final status of the patient. Serum levels of β-hCG and the time gap between US examination and last menstrual period (LMP) were compared between patients with positive and negative US findings.
Results: US were positive in 194 patients (92.4%) and negative in the remaining 16 patients (7.6%). The two groups were similar in terms of age (median, 31 years vs. 30.5 years, respectively; p=0.57). Both the median time gap between US and LMP (median, 43 days vs. 34 days, p=0.03) and serum level of β-hCG (median, 1027 mIU/ml vs. 172.5 mIU/ml, p<0.001) were significantly higher in patients with positive US findings. Both differences were independent of each other in multivariate analysis. The best discriminative zone was set at a serum β-hCG level of 326 mIU/ml with a sensitivity and specificity of 86.6% and 87.5%, respectively.
Conclusion: According to our findings, both the median serum level of β-hCG and time gap between US and LMP in patients with missed diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy were significantly lower in comparison with correct diagnosis and proposed discriminative zone for serum level of β-hCG in our study is different from the previous studies though further studies are recommended especially in symptomatic patients with suspected ectopic pregnancy.

Abstract
Background and Aim Obesity with its various physical and mental problems threatens public health. This study aimed to investigate the discriminative role of metacognitive beliefs, the difficulty in emotion regulation, and codependency in women with obesity.
Methods and Materials In this causal-comparative research, 40 obese women (BMI ≥30 kg/m2) and 40 normal-weight subjects were selected by convenience sampling method. The samples were evaluated by metacognitive questionnaire, difficulties in emotion regulation scale, and the Farsi version of codependency measurement tool. We used discriminant function analysis to analyze the obtained data.
Ethical Considerations All study subjects signed the written consent form. The Research Ethics Committee of Kharazmi University approved this study (Code: IR.KHU.REC.1397.41).
Results The discriminant function could correctly classify 95% of obese people and 97.5% of normal-weight people with 3 variables of metacognitive beliefs, difficulty in emotion regulation, and codependency. In other words, 96.25% of all participants had been classified correctly.
Conclusion Distinguishing the two groups of obese and normal people, the variables of metacognitive beliefs, difficulty in emotion regulation, and codependency have a significant role. Therefore, these variables are supposedly influential psychological factors in obesity. So they can be used for its prevention and treatment.
