Abstract

Material and methods: This is a Double blind Randomized clinical trial study which was performed on 66 children of 2-7 years of age who had been referred for first time, for nonbrain non-liver elective surgery (class 1 Anesthesia). This study was designed to define the efficacy of oral ketamine on Anxiety and Agitation and crying of children after separation from these parents, toleration of Anesthesia mask and IV needle. Sleeping before Anesthesia and entry into the operating room samples were divided in to two groups, cases and control. 5mg/kg of ketamine plus 0.2cc/kg of fruit juice was given to the case group while only 0.2cc/kg of fruit was given to the control group 30 minutes before the operation.
Results: Our results showed that 78.8% of children in the case group did not cry when they were separated from their parents and 78.8% of them did not show any resistance. 34.4% of children in the case group showed no response and 59.4% also had low response. Only 6.1% of children in the control group had no response while 78.8% of them had responses such as intense body movements and pulling of hand. 69.7% of the case group were cooperative when putting on the anesthesia mask while 75.8% of the control group refused to wear the mask, 81.8% of the children in the case group were asleep before Anesthesia while all of the children in the control group were awake and uneasy.
Conclusion: These findings indicate that ketamine can be used as a preanesthetic drug to decrease the anxiety and fear of children and to calm them before their transfer to the operating room.

Abstract

Introduction: Infection due to hepatitis B virus (HBV) could be due to wild or mutant viruses. The HBeAg negative chronic hepatitis B (HbeAg-CHB) is unable to produce hepatitis B, e antigen (HbeAg), so that patients with this varient do not present with HBV characterized by HbcAg in the serum. HbeAg-CHB usually proceeds to serious liver disease. The prevalence of different viral forms in patients with chronic liver disease in Iran has not been established.
Materials and Methods: Seventy-six Hamadanian patients with over 6 months HBSAg positivity were enrolled. Patients with co-infection of HIV, HCV, past history of alcoholism, fatty liver, using of hepatotoxic drugs, autoimmune hepatitis and other metabolic liver disease were excluded. All patients were screened for Hhe Ag. HbeAb. HBV DNA by PCR, AST, ALT, ALK. pH and bilirubin.
Results: Eleven (14.5%) patients had HheAg-CHB (HbsAg +ve, HbeAg-ve / ve/anti HbeAb + ve, HBV DNA + ve and elevated AST, ALT) and 6 (8%) had normal transminases (AST and ALT) accompanied by the remaining criteria of HbeAg-CHB. 59 patients (77.5%) were infected with wild type HBV, ie: HBSAg + ve, HbeAg-ve, HbeAb + ve, HBV DNA- ve, and normal AST, ALT.
Conclusion: Frequency of HbeAg.CHB in Hamadan is 14.5% knowing of this varient of chronic hepatitis B is important since the HbeAg-CHB have worse prognosis than wild type and more better response to lamivudine than interferon.

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that has well known effects on most organs, but there have been controversies in few different studies about the effects of diabetes on hearing. So this study was carried out in 2003-2004 in Kermanshah Diabetes Research Center to assess the effect of diabetes on hearing. Materials and Methods: This is a case-control study. 82 diabetic cases (26 types I and 56 type 2 cases) were studied along with 82 controls matched both in age and sex. Cases were selected randomly, their range of age was 15 to 55 years and their duration of diabetes was more than 3 years. After completing questionnaires, all cases and controls undergone autoscopic examination. Those with other ear disease with hearing impairment were omitted. Audiometery including pure tone audiometery, speech audiometery, and impedance audiometrey with well tone AD19 formed was done on 164 (diabetic and control) persons. Data was analyzed using t-test. Results: Audiometric findings with different frequencies in the two groups revealed that there was a significant relationship between diabetes and hearing impairment (p<0.001). This relationship was more significant in high frequencie, older age and type 2 diabetes, but there were no relationship between control of blood sugar (HbA1c), duration of diabetes, sex, microvascular and macrovasculur complications with hearing loss in diabetic patients. Conclusion: These finding demonstrate that diabetes can cause mild to moderate hearing impairment especially in high frequencies. The mechanism of this effect is unknown. Complementary studies with more patients and with more accurate devices such as Otoacustic Emission (OAE) and Audiometric Brainstem Reflex (ABR) are recommended

Abstract

Introduction: Methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus strains are the most important agents of nosocomial infections. The conventional antibiotic susceptibility methods such as disk diffusion are not suitable for detection of these strains due to their heteroresistancy. Therefore, in this study, agar screen and duplex-PCR were compared in determination of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains isolated from nose of personnel in Hajar hospital of Shahre-kord, 2007. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study a total of 204 nasal swabs from personnel of Hajar hospital over a period of 6 months were collected. The specimens were cultured on mannitol salt agar for primary isolation and identification of Staphylococcus aureus strains and their susceptibility pattern to oxacillin was assessed using agar screen method. Finally, using duplex PCR, the isolates were tested for the presence of mecA gene. Results were compared and sensitivity and specificity of the method was determined. Results: In this study, 23 of the 52 (44%) Staphylococcus aureus isolates were resistant to oxacillin using agar screen method. However, mecA gene was detected in 27 of the 52 strains (52%). Our results showed that the sensitivity and specificity of agar screen method in determination of MRSA strains were 81.5% and 96%, respectively comparing with PCR. Conclusion: Oxacillin agar screen, comparing PCR, is an inexpensive, applied and phenotypical method with low false positive and suitable for screening of MRSA. However, due to its relatively high false negative results is not appropriate for screening of MRSA strains isolated from hospital-employed nasal carriers.

Abstract

Background: In molecular diagnosis of microbial agent, purification of chromosome is very important step. In this study, after cell destruction, DNA replication was done by increasing the denaturation time, without DNA purification. Methods and Materials: In this experimental study eight different dilution of E.coli (8/100, 4/100, 2/100, 1/100, 1/200, 1/400, 1/800 and 1/1600) solution were madce in D.W, Bacteria were separated by filtration. Polymerase chain reaction method was used to propagate 162 rRNA gene by design primers without DNA Purification. In order to confirme sensitivity of PCR, contamination of 15 different sources of Arak well water wafer was compared by MPN method. For confirmed sensitivity of PCR, 15 sources of water in Arak were examined and compared with MPN method. Results: Present of bacteria in diution sou tion were confirmed by culture. Polymerale Chain reaction (PCR) data were shown this method is able to recognize bacteria in above dilutions after filtration. This study showed high sensitivity of PCR method in compare to MPN method. Conclusion: Results were shown without stages of extraction of DNA, PCR were done without losing chromosome. Therefore false negative results were decrease and avoided from difficult phases.

Abstract

Background: Metronidazole has antibacterial and antiparasitic action. Therefore it can use for treatment inflammatory diseases as Crohn. The effect of metronidazole on human’s blood lipids to reducing levels of LDL and VLDL and increasing level of HDL is under investigation. Target of this research is consideration effect of metronidazole on hyperlipidemia case of death such as coronary artry disrase. Methods and Materials: This study is a triple blind clinical trial was done on 100 voluntaries between 25-65 years old. with hyperlipidemia. Samples divided in two equal groups. The first group received metronidazol, 500mg, BID, for 10 days, and control group received placebo with the same dose. Lipids of serum were measured before and after using drugs, then data analyzed by SPSS software. Results: In metronidazol group amount of total cholesterol, LDL and Triglyceride were significantly less than placebo group. HDL’s amount in metronidazole group was significantly more than placebo group. Conclusion: Significant effect of metronidazole on reducing harmful blood lipids and increasing useful blood lipids. It can be suggested a probable candidate in treatment of hyperlipidemia. Maybe it can use with this application. Although it needs to more study by meta analysis to validate this effect.

Abstract

Abstract Background: The important reality is that all of human developments and successes are due to learning. Knowing students learning styles will help to produce an educational plan in order to optimal and effective learning. The aim of this study was the comparison of learning styles and preferred teaching methods of different students of medical sciences. Materials and Methods: This study is a cross-sectional research. That was done on all students at Fasa Medical Sciences University in 2009. For data gathering, questionnaires of demographic variables and Kolb Learning Style Inventory (KLSI) was used and analyzed. Results: Majority of students learning style was convergent learning (38.3%) and then assimilator learning style (29.9%). More frequent preferred teaching method was group discussion. There was a significant difference between learning styles and course of students (P=0.011). Conclusion: Since, the majority of students had convergent and assimilator learning styles is recommended, considering the diversity of learning styles, educational methods related ro learning styles were using.

Abstract

Background: All members of society should have equal access to necessary health care. The main goal of this research is to determine the status of health care access in eight selected countries and to suggest a new model for Iran. Materials and Methods: This study was done comparatively on eight countries. In order to define a framework for categorizing the countries Jordan scales was employed. In this method, based on the kind of insurance system, countries are divided into 4 groups, from each 2 countries were selected. Data obtained from each country were placed in comparative tables. For presenting the final model, Delphi technique was utilized in two stages. Results: To increase equity in their health care systems, all the countries in this study utilized such strategies as insurance coverage for all, defined health care packages, appropriate human resources, family physicians, referral system and high level of GNP in health sector. Also, low direct payment by patients, expansion of insurance coverage and the existence of out of pocket pay limit in pharmaceutical and medical services were also very helpful. These policies have been made in a way that the level of individuals' income did not affect the access to such services. Conclusion: Equitable access to health care services in Iran necessitates the establishment of national health insurance system aiming at omission of parallel insurance, provision of medical care coverage for all the basic medical services especially health care coverage for the elderly and patients with chronic psychological problems.

Abstract

Background:Today, in spite of quick and amazing human advancements in prevention treatment, and control of diseases and their positive effects on the community, lack of reliance on the instructions of prophets on spirituality and ethics of human relationships has led to health, social, ethical, and environmental crises that have resulted in spread of emerging diseases such as AIDS. Therefore, the way out of this crisis is the return to the instructions of prophets and religions, especially Islam. This article explains the role of Islam instructions in achieving millennium development goals in the fight against malaria and AIDS. Materials and Methods: In this review article, through access to reliable sources in the form of a descriptive article, practical strategies of Islam for achieving millennium development goals for fighting diseases, AIDS, and malaria are investigated. In so doing, by applying appropriate keywords to electronic and manual search in reliable Islamic and medical resources, data were collected and the central research question was addressed. Results: Based on the results of the reviewed studies, instructions and ideas of Islam on reconstructing the environment, preservation of natural resources, observing personal health, priority of health to treatment, abstinence from risky sexual behaviors, and so forth have practical implications for malaria and AIDS control and prevention so that if there had been commitment to Islam, AIDS as an emerging disease might never have developed. Conclusion: Noticing the availability of resources and instructions in Islam on health and medicine for prevention and fight against diseases, such ideas can be utilized for preventing the emergence and development of other new diseases. Hence, Islamic instructions can be presented to the world as practical strategies for achieving millennium development goals.

Abstract

Background: Existence of extended spectrum B-lactamase (ESBL) genes plays an important role in spreading B-lactam antibiotic resistance in the producing strains of these enzymes. The resistance of gram-negative bacteria, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, to different antimicrobial agents, especially B-lactam and carbapenem, has increasingly been reported. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of TEM-1 beta-lactamases in Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates through Duplex PCR. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive-analytic study, 175 Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates collected from burn patients were subjected to bacteriological tests. The samples were cultured and identified according to standard methods. Then the frequency of ESBL producing strains was determined via the combined disk method. Using boiling method, DNA was extracted and examined for the existence of TEM-1 gene by Duplex PCR. Results: Out of the 175 Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates, 66 (37.7%) were ESBL positive, 15.15% of which were positive for TEM-1 B-lactamases resistance gene. Conclusion: Noticing the increasing rate of the ESBLs producing strains, using the appropriate treatment protocol based on the antibiogram pattern of the strains is highly recommended.

Abstract

Background: In pyoderma infections, the density of pus is related to desoxiribo-nucleoproteins. The use of streptodornase (DNase) in combination with streptokinase can help dissolve purulent secretions of infections which results in healing the wound through the discharge of pus from the necrotic tissue. The aim of this study was to produce recombinant streptodornase from group A strain of Streptococcus pyogenes which is highly efficient in terms of active streptodornase production using expression vector. Materials and Methods: In this applied-fundamental study, genomic DNA of streptodornase gene (sd) was extracted by phenol-chloroform. Then by using specific primers of streptodornase gene, it was amplified through PCR. The resulting streptodornase gene was cloned in pGEX4T1-sd transformer for expression and the pGEX4T1-sd plasmid was transferred to the sd. E.coli BL21. Protein production was done by induction via IPTG and optimization of the conditions. The recombinant protein was purified using the glutathione sepharose 4B kit. Results: The nucleotide sequence of PCR and group A streptodornase Streptococcus was totally the same. The production of the streptodornase recombinant protein was done by inducing pGEX4T1-sd plasmid via Isopropyl β-D-1-thiogalactopyranoside. Protein purification was done through affinity-chromatography by using glutathione sepharose 4B. The recombinant protein was reacted with anti-streptodornase mouse serum through Western-Blot method. Conclusion: Recombinant streptodornase can be produced by pGEX4T1 in E. coli. The recombinant protein maintains its antigenic property desirably. Noticing the domestic need in Iran, low rate of production, and pathogenesis of streptococci, production of this recombinant product is feasible.

Abstract

Background: Hyaluronidase A is an antigenic protein that is secreted by Streptococcus pyogenes. Nowadays, streptococcal infections are diagnosed by tracking down anti-hyaluronidase A antibodies. In this study, the attempt was made to generate recombinant hyaluronidase A in E. coli. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, through designing specific primers and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), hyaluronidase A gene was amplified and after purification, it was sub-cloned in plasmid expression vector pET32a. Then pET32a-hylA was transferred to E. coli BL21-DE3-plySs. Protein generation induced by IPTG. The recombinant protein was purified by Ni-NTA kit and its concentration was assayed by Bradford method. Western-Blot analysis was run for verifying the recombinant hyaluronidase A. Results: The nucleotide sequencing of the gene amplified by PCR was the same as hyaluronidase A gene from Streptococcus pyogenes. Production of the recombinant hyaluronidase A via induction by pET32a-hylA plasmid was done through IPTG. The expressed protein was purified by affinity chromatography by Ni-NTA resin. The concentration of purified protein was 500µg/ml. analysis using a mouse anti-hyaluronidase A serum was reacted with the generated protein using Western-Blot analysis. Conclusion: Recombinant HylA protein can be generated in E.coli and the resulting protein maintains its antigenic properties desirably.

Abstract

Background: The presence of nitrate in drinking water causes various health and environmental problems. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of nitrate reduction by Fe/H2O2 process and adsorption on activated carbon. Materials and Methods: This experimental study investigated nitrate oxidation by advanced oxidation process of Fe°/FeІІ/FeШ/H2O2 at pH 2-10, nitrate concentrations of 50-300 mg/L. After adjusting the pH, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, and 10 g/L values of GAC, PAC, H2O2/GAC, and Fe/H2O2/GAC together with H2O2 at retention times of 15, 30, 45, 60, and 90 minutes, respectively, were added and mixed. Results: At retention time of 10 minutes and 0.5 mL H2O2 and 1 g/L from Fe°, FeІІ, and FeІІІ, the removal efficacy was 88.5, 84 and 78%, respectively. At 50 mg/L nitrate and 0.5, 1, and 10 mg/L GAC concentrations, the removal efficacy was 56.5, 93.6, and 82.6%, respectively. The nitrate removal efficiency at pH=4 was approximately 50%, whereas at pH=3 with 30% efficacy, it increased to 80%. Conclusion: Modified Fe/H2O2 process with iron nano-particles and activated carbon adsorption can effectively reduce nitrate under optimal conditions. The use of activated carbon at a concentration of 1 g/L increased the removal efficiency of nitrate to 90%.

Abstract

Background: Today, global concerns about water pollution with chemicals and its adverse impact on health have increased. This study aims to evaluate the physical and chemical quality of water treated through domestic water treatment systems.

Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, water samples were collected from 60 domestic water treatment systems and parameters, such as turbidity, total dissolved and suspended solid, total hardness and calcium, magnesium hardness, alkalinity, total alkalinity, carbonate, bicarbonate, nitrate, sulfate, nitrite and fluoride, EC, pH, and free chlorine residuals, were examined.

Results: The results indicate that the average concentration of chemical parameters in treated water were: chloride=0.1mg/L, nitrate=0.006mg/l, sulfate=5 mg/l, Nitrate=15mg/L, bicarbonate=49 mg/L, calcium hardness=18 mg/L, and fluoride=0 mg/l.

Conclusion: The overall results of this study indicated that the use of municipal water treatment reduced Cl2, sulfate, and bicarbonate concentrations than the optimal levels in urban areas water. However, nitrite concentration was significantly higher in the output of these systems than distribution systems, which is a source of concern.

Abstract

Background: Subclinical hypothyroidism is the compensatory stage before overt hypothyroidism. In overt hypothyroidism, risk of ischemic heart disease increases due to elevation of lipoprotein (a) as atherogenic agent, but evidence for subclinical hypothyroidism is one of the controversial issues in researches. According to the atherogenic lipoprotein (a) and other serum lipids, this study is conducted to compare the serum lipoprotein (a) and other serum lipids in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism and euthyroidism.

Materials and Methods: In this descriptive - analytic study, 90 persons (60 with subclinical hypothyroidism and 30 euthyroid state) are participated and these referred to Imam Reza and Taleghani Hospitals which are located in Kermanshah. The sampling method is selected with available sampling methods. After differentiating data by age, sex and underlying disease (liver, kidney, drugs), then they were subjected to determination lipoprotein (a) and other serum lipids profile tests.

Results: In both cases and controls, 16/7% were men and 83/3% were women. Based on results, there is no significant difference between serum lipoprotein (a), triglycerides, cholesterol, HDL and LDL in both statistical groups (p>0.05). Also there is no association between lipoprotein (a) and other serum lipids (p>0.05).

Conclusion: Serum levels of lipoprotein (a) and other serum lipids in young patients with normal weight with subclinical hypothyroidism is not increase, thus it can be concluded early treatment is not necessary for them.

Abstract

Background: Human brain consists of two hemispheres with contralateral control of the body. One hemisphere's function is predominate to another, so one side of the body is more powerful in performing special tasks comparing the other which this property is almost used to determine predominant hemisphere of the brain. This analytic study performed to assess the effect of handedness and gender on the result of school readiness assessment examination in children.

Materials and Methods: Of 6 to 6.5 years old children living in middle socioeconomic regions of Qazvin city, referred to preschool Examining center to assess educational readiness and other physical examination, 400 children equally of both sexes were randomly selected in two Left-Handed (LH) and Right-Handed (RH) groups to compare the results of school readiness assessment examination. The data was statistically analysed and P-Value less than 0.05 was considered significant.

Results: The results of School Readiness Assessment Examination in LH and RH children were 38.71±2.70 and 38.15±4.04, respectively without significant difference. These results were 38.8±3.8 and 38.30±3.4 in boys and girls respectively, without significant difference. Comparing RH and LH cases in each sex group did not show any significance.

Conclusion: No significance was observed comparing the results of School Readiness Assessment Examination in LH and RH groups and between two gender groups.

Abstract

Background: Considering the high prevalence of diabetes and developing cardiovascular diseases via dyslipidemia and inflammation in type 2 diabetic patients, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of Oligofructose-enriched inulin on serum lipid concentrations and inflammation in type2 diabetic patients.

Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial, 52 patients with type 2 diabetes were assigned to one of two groups. Experimental group (n=27) received 10g/d oligofructose-enriched inulin and control group (n=25) received 10 g/d maltodextrin for 8 weeks. Dietary intakes, anthropometric measurements, hs-CRP and serum lipids concentrations were measured at the baseline and at the end of the study. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (verision11.5). Paired, independent t-test and ANCOVA were used to compare comparison of quantitative variables.

Results: At the end of study, we observed significant decrease in total cholesterol (28.00 mg/dL, 14.10%), LDL-c (22.00 mg/dL, 21.7%), TC/HDL-c ratio (-0.73, 20.7%) and LDL-c/HDL-c ratio (-0.55, 27.5%) in oligofructose-enriched inulin compared with the maltodextrin group (p<0.05). Changes in concentrations of triglycerides and high-density lipoprotein were not significant in oligofructose-enriched inulin compared to maltodextrin group.

Conclusion: Oligofructose-enriched inulin supplementation with improving in inflammtion and lipid profile help in management of type 2 diabetes and its complications.

Abstract

Background: Naphthalene is a polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs) present in many water sediments. This study evaluated the performance of UV/H2O2 reaction to decompose naphthalene in the aqueous solution.

Materials and Methods: It was an experimental-laboratory study. A one liter cylindrical glass reactor was used for performing all degradation experiments. The radiation source was a low pressure mercury UV lamp emitting at 254 nm (30 W, UV-C) which was placed above a batch photoreactor for UV/H2Oexperiments and different concentrations of H2O2 (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 mg/L) were tested.

Results: In 15 mg/L naphthalene in UV/H2O2 system and reaction times 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 100 and 120 minutes, 15, 28, 31 , 36, 42, 52, 56, 73 and 59.5% naphthalene removal efficiencies were observed and COD removal efficiencies in reaction times 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 100 and 120 minutes, 22, 38, 45, 61.5, 67.5, 70, 80, 88.5 and 76 % were observed. When the initial pH values were 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,9, 10 and 12 the naphthalene removal efficiency was approximately 75.8, 63.4, 62, 58.5, 44.8, 35.8 and 30%, respectively, with UV/H2O2 system.

Conclusion: The experimental results of this study suggested that the dosages with 20 mg/L H2O2 at pH= 3 with 2.8 W/cm2 UV intensity (254 nm) provided the optimal operation conditions for the mineralization of naphthalene yielding a 73% mineralization efficiency after 100 minutes of reaction time.

Abstract

 Background: Selenium is a unique trace element which is benefit on inflammatory underlining diseases. MAPK (Mitogen-activated protein kinase) pathways regulate several cellular functions including inflammation, cell differentiation, migration, and apoptosis. Objective: This study aimed to find out the pathway(s) by which Selenium modifies inflammatory events in oxidative or thrombotic induced stress in platelet.

Materials and Methods: This is a basic -experimental study on Human platelets obtained from 30 healthy individuals (age 35±12) .The phosphorylation rate of P38MAPK , c –JNK (c-Jun N-terminal Kinase), and ERK1/2(Extracellular signal-regulated kinases1/2) as three important proteins in MAPK family and P-selectin were measured in presence or absence of selenium by ELISA( solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-ImmunoSorbent Assay). Pharmacological inhibition is done by inhibitors of P38MAPK, ERK1/2 and c- JNK in order to compare with selenium effects. The percentage of ratio of phosphorylated to total protein was used for normalizing the phospho protein contents of platelets.

Results: Selenium significantly reduced P-selectin expression (p<0.05), P38MAPK (p<0.05) and c- JNK phosphorylation (p<0.05) induced by cu2+oxidized LDL in platelets but Se couldn’t significantly reduce Thrombin induced P-selectin despite of decreasing in mentioned phospho-proeins.

Conclusion: Our results indicated that Selenium can reduce inflammation via suppression of p38MAPK-dependent signaling pathway. These results may provide insights related to development of novel Selenium therapies in atherosclerosis.

Abstract

Background: The aim of this study was to assess the effect of training, and noise stress on serotonin plasma level of Wistar rats.

Materials and Methods: For many years, physical activity have been used for the treatment of different neuropsychological dieases. Twenty one male witar rats (9-10 weeks old and 170.82±20.57g weight) were randomly divided into three groups: the noise group (n=7), training+noise group (n=7), and the control group (n=7). The aerobic training was performed 5 days per week, for a 60-day period. The noise stress included exposure to traffic noise 5 hrs/per day over a 60-day period (range:85-110 dB).The control group was not exposed to any noise or exercise, and was kept away from the sources of stress the rats were kept under the same conditions. At the end of the experiment, blood samples were collected and plasma serotonin concentrations were determined.For the statistical data analysis, one-way ANOVA and Tukey post-hoc tests were used (&alpha&le0.05).

Results: Plasma serotonin concentration significantly decreased in noise groups, in comparison with the controls (21.9±2.1, vs.40.8±7.3 &mumol/m, respectively p<0.000). The plasma serotonin levels in the noise +training groups (36.2±3.1) were apparently near to the controls However, resistance training could significantly increase plasma serotonin concentration in the noise+training group rats.

Conclusion: Increased serotonin level following resistance exercises might reduced stress in subjects.
